SMART Ink Office add-ins do not work in Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac OS X

Issue
PowerPoint 2011 for Mac supports SMART Ink but PowerPoint 2016 for Mac doesn't support SMART ink.
Symptoms
When you attempt to write or draw on a presentation in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac, SMART Ink doesn't appear in the document.
Cause
Microsoft has discontinued support for organization-based add-ins for Office 2016 for Mac.SMART Ink integration isn't possible for Office 2016 for Mac without Microsoft support for organization-based add-ins.

Solution
  • Install Office 2011 side by side with Office 2016 on the same Mac computer. Then write into PowerPoint 2011 presentations with SMART Ink. 
  • Use Office for Windows
  • Convert the Office document to a supported file type such as .pdf, or .notebook and ink over it with another application supported by SMART Ink.
